My Search for the Best False Eyelashes for Beginners
In the following video, I introduce you to my favorite brand of false eyelashes and explain why I think they’re the best false eyelashes for beginners.
Exploring False Eyelashes
Over the past year or two, I started playing with false eyelashes after seeing so many influencers wearing them.
Although I had occasionally worn them during professional makeup sessions, I had never applied them independently.
While magnetic lashes seemed to be the best false eyelash option for a beginner, my initial experiments with these left me feeling frustrated. It seemed like my eye shape posed a unique challenge, causing the lashes to lift at one end and refuse to conform to my eyelid’s contour.

Here I am on a date-night at a concert wearing magnetic false eyelashes. I love the drama of this style, but you can see that the inner corners are lifting.
However, my determination to enhance my lash game led me to a game-changing discovery. I stumbled upon a brand that offered pre-mapped lashes and customizable lash strips, allowing you to design your ideal lash look.
While many companies offer similar products, the brand Lash Linx caught my attention due to the extensive tutorials, both on Instagram and their website, making the process seem surprisingly manageable.
I took the plunge and purchased both pre-mapped lashes and lash strips, diving headfirst into the world of glue-on false eyelashes as a complete newbie.
Admittedly, it took me a while to get the hang of it, and I’m still practicing. I think like anything, the more you do it the easier it becomes.
3 Reasons I Love Wearing False Eyelashes

Here I’m wearing Lash Linx “Winx” pre-mapped lashes on my vacation in Mexico. In this photo the lashes are ready to be removed, but I’m so impressed that they’re still hanging on after my visit to the spa steam room and a facial!
As a mature woman, I discovered three compelling reasons to embrace false eyelashes in my beauty routine.
1. Time-Saving Beauty without Makeup
First and foremost, false eyelashes can save you precious time.
During my Summer vacation, I was delighted to find that I could achieve a polished look with minimal effort. Application of tinted sunscreen and false eyelashes were all I needed to feel put-together during the day.
You’ll be amazed at how little additional makeup is required – perhaps just a hint of lip gloss, and you’re ready to go.
If you’re new to false eyelashes, application will take you a while at first. However, once you get past the learning curve, you’ll appreciate how much time you’ll save getting ready.
“Less is More”
For “mature” women over 40, I firmly believe that the “less-is-more” approach can work wonders in helping you appear more youthful.
2. Say Goodbye to Panda Eyes
Another reason I adore false eyelashes is their ability to prevent “panda eyes.”
As my skin has matured, I’ve noticed that traditional eye makeup, particularly mascara, tends to smudge beneath my eyes.
Even waterproof mascara didn’t entirely solve the issue, likely due to the richer under-eye moisturizers I now use daily. These moisturizers, while nourishing for my skin, can contribute to mascara migration.
It was so irritating to be out to dinner or at an event, thinking I looked pretty good, only to look in the mirror and see dark smudges under my eyes!
Tired of having to periodically check for makeup mishaps, I turned to false eyelashes.
Eliminating mascara has solved this problem. I apply eyeshadow, then eyeliner on the top lid and just a touch on the bottom with no issues.
Although I don’t apply mascara to the bottom lashes, I don’t miss it at all. False eyelashes have honestly been a game-changer in my beauty routine!
3. Long-Lasting Beauty
The Lash Linx false eyelashes, glue and sealant I’ve been experimenting with have proven to be surprisingly durable.
With careful handling, you can expect your lashes to stay put for 5 to 7 days. I put them to the test even in the hot and humid conditions of Mexico, and they held up impressively well.

3 Place your first order and start applying your lashes!
What You’ll Need to Order
If you’re new to eyelash application, I think the pre-mapped lashes are the best ones for beginners. Start with these.
The Lash Linx glue, sealant (glaze) and remover are all wonderful. The brand offers both clear and black glue, with both spoolie and brush application techniques. This is personal preference, so I suggest experimenting with both as I did.
Here are my recommendations for your first order.
This is everything I ordered initially, plus the DIY lash ribbons:
- Pre-mapped lashes
- Lash pad (perfect to lay out your lash segments and keep them in place)
- Linx Locker (to store and protect your lash pad)
- Applicator
- Brush lash adhesive
- Spoolie lash adhesive
- Mittens (use only when you’re finished and ready to clamp)
- Sticky remover
- Glaze (reduces tackiness and helps your lashes last longer)
- Eyelash Remover (works like a dream to dissolve adhesive when removing your lashes and prevent pulling your natural lashes)
- DIY Lash ribbons (optional) – While these are not pre-mapped for you, I think experimenting with the DIY strips is a good way to get more practice and perfect your technique.
You Will Also Need:
Isopropyl Alcohol wipe pads – Don’t skip this! You’ll need plenty of these to clean your lash applicator. These will keep your applicator bacteria free and will remove sticky adhesive residue.
Trust me – a sticky applicator is a nightmare to work with!
Lighted magnifying mirror – I love my Riki Skinny mirror, with 10X magnification. The stand can be positioned at just the right angle so you can really see what you’re doing as you’re applying your lashes.

A lighted makeup mirror like this one with 10X magnification makes it so much easier to apply your false eyelashes.
A World of Possibilities
Your lashes, your style…
I like a little drama, so I gravitate towards the longer, fuller lashes. This is true especially since I’m typically not wearing very much makeup on a daily basis. Plus it’s fun!
But maybe drama isn’t your style. You may prefer a more natural look.

Here we were on our way to a gala. I had my makeup done and the makeup artist applied false eyelashes. These lashes don’t have nearly the drama as my DIY lashes, but that’s ok because she went a lot heavier on the makeup application than I generally do.
Lash Looks from Natural to Dramatic
One of the most exciting aspects of false eyelashes is the creative freedom they offer. Whether you crave dramatic flair or a natural, everyday look, the choice is yours.
You can select shorter lashes for a subtler effect or go bold with striking eyelashes. It’s like fashion – you can style your lashes your way!
I’m Invested in My Lash Game
If you can’t already tell, I’m loving my journey into the world of false eyelashes! It feels great to look “put-together” every day without having to wear makeup.
When I do wear makeup, having my lashes on saves so much time by reducing the amount of eye makeup I need to apply.
Finally, eliminating those miserable “panda eyes” has been a game-changer when I do wear makeup for a night out!
Lash Linx are the Best False Eyelashes for Beginners
For beginners, it’s essential to find the right lashes that suit your style and eye shape. With a bit of practice, you can master the art of applying false eyelashes and enjoy the confidence and convenience they bring to your beauty routine.
Whether you’ve experimented with magnetic or other types of strip lashes previously, or if this is your first time trying false eyelashes, I highly recommend the lash segments from Lash Linx.
From my experience, the smaller segments and thinner spine on the Lash Linx styles are easier to work with and allow more control over placement, making these the best false eyelashes for beginners.
So why wait?
Embrace the world of false eyelashes and unlock endless possibilities for enhancing your natural beauty.
